P.A.I.R. - Landscape and Memory

In May the P.A.I.R. was in Allardsoog, where Maarten Heijkamp transformed the studio into a camera-obscura. In September audio-artist Hans Visser moved in. This time the P.A.I.R. was situated near former concentration camp Westerbork. In November the P.A.I.R. was in the Vatherbos in Emmen, where Maurice Meewisse showed us some real hard work.

Background information about the P.A.I.R.

The successful art projects that took place in Veenhuizen, Jongensdromen 1 & 2, The Straw Castle en Ministerie van Turen have left their marks, long after the castle itself has been pulled down. They have influenced discussions about landscape and have inspired artist and others that are professionally involved in the destination of rural areas in the Netherlands and elsewhere. The project Landscape and Memory is, in this sense, a continuation.

The P.A.I.R consists of two six-metre containers - one for living and one for working - some tools, books and wood to make a fire.

During the whole period, the residence will be open for presentation to any audience. Through the work, the artist can start a discussion about the connection between art and the local landscape. He or she can cooperate with neighbouring farmers, making use of their knowledge and tools.
